Visual Inspection Criteria for Wheel Rims: Quality Control Standards

1. Surface Defects
The wheel rim surface shall be smooth and free from cracks, pinholes, porosity, dents, and scratches.

Cracks: Classified as a critical defect. Any crack compromises safety and structural integrity. The wheel shall be rejected immediately upon detection.

Porosity & Pinholes: May indicate compromised structural strength. These shall be evaluated against specified acceptance limits.

Dents & Scratches: Affect aesthetic appearance and corrosion resistance. These must be strictly controlled. Minor scratches shall remain within specified tolerances (depth, width, length) and must not compromise structural integrity.

2. Colour and Finish Consistency
The colour and finish shall be uniform across the entire wheel rim surface. No discernible colour variations or gloss inconsistencies are permitted. Uneven finishes may indicate process failures, such as inconsistent coating application or poor curing.

3. Markings and Traceability
Wheel rims shall bear clear, permanent markings, including:

Part number / Type

Production date / Batch code

Missing, illegible, or defaced markings are strictly prohibited, as they compromise product traceability and safety compliance.
