How to Extend the Life of Wheel Loader Tires

02.jpg

Tire maintenance accounts for a significant portion of the annual upkeep for excavators and loaders, representing about 15% of the machinery’s total cost of ownership. As a critical component of wheeled construction equipment, large tires can easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Therefore, proper tire maintenance is essential for these machines.

Dealing with punctures, air leaks, and low tire pressure during operation is a major headache. A tire’s lifespan can be greatly reduced by a variety of factors, such as tire pressure that is too high or too low, overloading, and poor four-wheel alignment. Furthermore, rough operation caused by inexperienced excavator and loader drivers, improper tire selection and installation, and damage from hard external objects will also shorten tire life.

When inflating, adjust the tire pressure based on your actual operating conditions, and inspect all components for air leaks. During prolonged high-load operation, it is crucial to ensure the tire pressure is optimal. Both over-inflation and under-inflation can lead to a blowout.
