Common Problems with Cold-Drawn Steel

There are two main common problems with cold-drawn steel: brittle fracture and deformation.

Category 1: Brittle Fracture:

Internal Characteristics: Grain size, inclusions, etc.

External Environment: Temperature and humidity fluctuations, etc.

Structural Defects: Stress concentration, assembly discontinuity

Process Inadequacies: Welding quality or material heat treatment.

Category 2: Deformation:

Bending deformation: Primarily caused by uneven drawing force or residual stress within the material.

Excessive ovality: Usually caused by die wear or poor lubrication.

Surface cracks: Associated with excessive deformation (over 35%) or insufficient material plasticity.
