Classification and Distinctions of Port Machinery

Port machinery plays a vital role in port operations. As heavy equipment designed specifically for port operations, it primarily handles tasks such as loading and unloading, transporting, storing, and handling cargo, thereby ensuring efficient port operations and smooth logistics.

It primarily includes five categories: lifting machinery, conveying machinery, loading and unloading machinery, safety equipment, and auxiliary equipment.

1. Lifting machinery: Machinery capable of vertically lifting and horizontally moving cargo.

2. Conveyor machinery: Belt conveyors, for example, are specialized machinery used for loading, transshipping, and stacking bulk cargo.

3. Loading and unloading machinery: Machinery used in ports for loading and unloading trucks, stacking cargo, and short-distance horizontal transport of cargo. Examples include forklifts, straddle carriers, dumpers, screw unloaders, tractors, and trailers.

4. Safety equipment: Various safety features and emergency rescue equipment. The primary function of this equipment is to prevent accidents and facilitate rapid rescue and recovery efforts in the event of an incident.

5. Auxiliary equipment: including power supply, lighting, ventilation, water supply and drainage, fire protection and other equipment. Although they are not directly involved in the main operation process of the port, they are crucial to ensure the smooth progress of port operations.
